INTEL's NEXT GENERATION PROCESSOR

HASWELL MODEL ARCHITECTURE IN I-FAMILY

INTEL GENERATIONS:
Intel introduced 4th generation in i3,i5 and i7 processors and it is named as Haswell(22nm process node).Previous generations are ivy bridge(32nm and 22nm process node) is called 3rd generation, sandy bridge(32nm process node) is called as 2nd generation and first i-family processor architecture named as Nehalem which is 45nm process node.
POWER EFFICIENCY :
.Haswell architecture(4th generation) requires less power to process compared with ivy bridge(3rd generation) and sandy bridge(2nd generation).sandy bridge works with 40W to 45W,ivy bridge works with 25W to 35W and now Haswell architecture designed to consume only 15W for both cores i3 and i5 processors and core i7 processor consume 47W power to work.

INTEL GRAPHICS :
Haswell processors has big changes in Intel HD graphics.Which improves GUI appearance more and it displays HD video with good quality. It improves game performance

HOW TO IDENTIFY INTEL's GENERATION:
Ivy bridge(3rd generation) processors model number starts with '3' example "i5-3317U" and Haswell(4th generation) processors model number starts with '4' example "i7-4770R"
so while buy processors in market see model number of processor to identify generation of the processors don't get confuses.

UPDATE CYCLE IN INTEL I-FAMILY:(TICK-TOCK)

Intel I-family processor architecture is called Tick-Tock model. The reason is simple, one update is tick and another update is tock.ivy bridge is tick model because it is new manufacturing processor and tock means new architecture process.example ivy bridge tick model,It is a new manufacturing processor because move down from 32nm to 22nm process node.Haswell is tock model because it carries 22nm process node and it has complete new architecture model.
